The PowerBill
The AGI era · the bill side of the build-out

Your bill went up.
Was it the data centres?

Sometimes, in some places — and almost never the way the headlines say. Data centre demand reaches households through capacity and grid costs, not through the price of electricity itself. There is also serious evidence pointing the other way, which most pages quietly drop. This site keeps both, with dates and sources, and gives you two tools that use only the numbers you type.

The one-line version: a record capacity auction can reach your bill without your utility doing anything; a large steady customer can also spread fixed network costs and push average prices down. Which happens to you is set by rules, in proceedings that take public comment.

Two bills in, and the change splits cleanly into rate effect, usage effect and the part where both moved. Pure arithmetic — no national averages, no assumptions, nothing uploaded.

What we will not print

No "$X added to your bill" figure for a national audience — that number depends on your utility and your tariff, and anyone quoting it generally is guessing. No statistic we cannot attribute to the body that produced it. No energy supplier, tariff-switching or solar recommendations, and no affiliate links. Every source we do use →
